Our volunteer base is made up of a healthy mix of Starfish alumni, university undergrads, and young working professionals. As a volunteer, you'll engage directly with our youth and connect with like-minded peers. You will help out-of-school youth pursue education again and, more importantly, rebuild their self-belief.

You will receive regular training, be part of townhalls and gain exposure to the social service sector. We're committed to supporting your growth.

Xin Yi has been a dedicated volunteer since 2016. Her commitment began during her junior college years and continued throughout her time at the Singapore Management University, where she graduated with a degree in Law and Business Management.

Engage and coach our out-of-school youths alongside our weekly main classroom teaching of Normal Technical level English, Math, Science and Mother Tongue (Chinese, Malay and Tamil).
Responsibilities
Assist main teachers (e.g. distributing worksheets, running virtual English oral consultations)
Support in-class administrative duties (Attendance, Registration for N-levels)
Aid main teachers maintain classroom engagement, participation and decorum
Invigilation and marking of term assessments (March, June, August)
Promote healthy learning habits amongst the youth in the Starfish Community
COMMITMENTS
You will need to be present for our Monday weekly physical lessons
Be available to attend online or physical briefings and trainings
Approximately 4-5hours/week
Commit minimum of 1 full term or 3 months
REQUIREMENTS
Has successfully sat for your national examinations in the past 5 years
A positive attitude towards group learning settings
Possible prior volunteering engagements with youths from challenging backgrounds
