After graduating from the Project Starfish programme and receiving my N-Level results, I found myself unprepared to further my studies even though I did well. Once I found out becoming a student volunteer was an option, it was an obvious decision for me. I started out doing basic admin and design tasks, and this year I chose to step out of my comfort zone to take on the role of a tutor volunteer.
It's been an eye-opening experience seeing how the programme is run behind the scenes, and it's also been very fulfilling being able to "give back" in a way, knowing how much this programme helped me a few years ago.
I've realised that although I may be going at a slower pace compared to my same-aged peers, I wouldn't trade the experiences and lessons I've learned as a volunteer for the world.
